At the historic site called Odoi in the west of Kitano Tenmangu shrine, fresh greenery of young maple leaves are now very beautiful. The Odoi is open to the public annually since 2015, and this year it’s open from Saturday, April 14 to Saturday, June 30.
Odoi is an earthen mound of fortification and flood prevention constructed by Toyotomi Hideyosh (豊臣秀吉)in 1591, and is designated as a national historic site of Japan. Along the Odoi mound, approximately 350 maple trees are planted including some 350-400 years old ones. Please enjoy the refreshing air and beautiful view of young green maple leaves.
