In appreciation for the autumn harvest and the benefit of love and relationships, Jishu Jinja Shrine annually conducts Momiji Festival to make prayers for well-beings of family members and prosperous businesses.
A troop of MIKO (shrine maiden) with red colored maple twigs from Mt. Horai in their hands, dedicate votive dance performances such as “Momiji no mai (dance of maple leaf)” , “Tsurugi no Mai (dance of sword)”, and “Ougi no Mai (dance of fan)" . At “OHIDAKI (a Shinto ritual of bonfire)”, the shrine prays for people’s health and recovery from illness as well.
