When I was asked “What cuisine do you recommend in Kyoto?,”
I usually say “How about udon? It’s very delicious.”
Japanese restaurant “Tawara-ya” has maintained an establishment near Kitano Tenmangu Shrine since early times. The restaurant is famous for one thick and long noodle in a bowl.
“Kitsune udon”, udon topped with thickly flavored aburaage (sweetened deep-fried tofu pockets), is one of the most favourite tastes for Kyoto people.
And, “Nishin soba” is also famous.
A little sweet, hot and soft herring, and its stock are very delicious.
In Kyoto, even if you eat any cuisine, you will be satisfied with those tastes.
