Did you go to the Setsubun festival somewhere?
In the Heian period the festival to drive away devils was held at the Imperial Court on New Year’s Eve. It is the beginnings of present Setsubun.
People in Kyoto usually say, “If it’s a setsubun festival, Yoshida shrine is the place to go.”
First, I go to Yoshida shrine, Shogoin temple, and Suga shirine.
There were a lot of people each place.
Housoushi of Yoshida shrine and devils of Shogoin Temple were cute.
At Suga shrine young ladies were provided “Kesou-bumi,” a good-luck charm for matchmaking by Kesou-bumi vendors wearing eboshi.
I was really glad to be able to get beans of the bean throwing ceremony at Shogoin temple.
